Martin, great looking work!

Is that a Paua abalone rosette I see?

Always wondered how difficult it is to do one.

Robert,

Yes, the rosette is paua and it wasnt too hard to do...just laborious. Heres a closeup taken after the rosette went in.

Nice work, Martin. I don't believe I've ever seen a beam connecting the head and tail blocks before. Gluing aid or handle?

The length of batten holds the butt block square until the sides go on.

Martin, beautiful rosette!

I gotta try that on my next.
I’ve got a piece of Paua veneer, its about .013 thick, and 5-1/4" x 9-1/4"
I’m thinking, I could either, cut small arched pieces, or a circle.

Great work!

Robert

Gorgeous rosette, Martin...

Sounds like you've been really busy.
I remember seeing your pics of your last classical, and looks like your current jobs are turining out just as nice.
Can't wait to see them when they're finished....

Cheers,
Claire

Martin, great work...love the "dreadie".
Is that Indian rosewood? Looks dark and rich.
Like Evan would say, "Yay, chocolate!"

Yes Steve the Dreadie back and sides are Indian Rosewood. Its been pore filled with Z-poxy (two coats diluted 50% with alcohol and sanded back to bare wood) and then a french polish job has been started. Top is Sitka and neck is Honduras Mahogany.
